Class Descriptions

An evaluation of the athlete will be completed at the first class to be sure they are in the correct level.

Level 1:
This class is designed to hone in on the building blocks of technique and to teach body awareness in addition to tumbling. Cartwheels, round offs, back bends, back walkovers, and front walkers are also taught in this class. This is the perfect class for athletes who are brand new to tumbling.

Level 2:
This class introduces the back handspring position and technique as well as working the round off into the back handspring combination. This class also focuses on many components including connecting multiple back handsprings, round off back handspring (s) and connecting front walkovers into running tumbling passes. Stepping out of the back handsprings and connecting to a running pass will also be covered.

Level 3:
This class introduces the tuck position and tuck-timers (a technique used to build strength in learning tucks). Instructors will use tuck timers from the standing back handspring and running round off back handspring positions. We will incorporate standing tucks as a conditioning station that will help all areas of the tumbling technique.

Level 4:
This class introduces the layout back position and timers and how to apply it to running and standing tumbling. These skills must be perfected before moving on to the next class. Other areas of focus are perfecting the standing tuck and jumps into back handspring tucks/layouts, and jumps to the standing tuck with no pause.

Level 5:
This is our highest level tumbling class. It will introduce the full to the athlete when the layout position has been perfected. The class also focuses on perfecting the double full, on to whips, Arabians, and punch fronts through to the twisting skills.

Special Needs Tumbling:
This class works with special athletes and will focus on most level 1 and some level 2 skills. Athletes are spotted for each skill until strong and confident enough to complete the task independently.

Boys Sports Tumbling:
Instructors make this class extra fun by teaching boys not only basic tumbling skills but also how they can safely incorporate them into various sports. Level 1-3 skills will be introduced based on each individual’s ability level.

The tuition for each class varies based on how many days of tumbling fall in the month. Members: $40/month for 4 classes or $50/month for 5 classes Non-Members: $60/month for 4 classes or $75/month for 5 classes *All tumbling class registrations subject to a $62 annual registration which begins in May.  New customers beginning in January pay $25 and April only pay $10.  All registration fees expire on April 30.

Policy Updates

2017 Tumbling Class Policy Revisions New Tumbling Class Policies Beginning Jan 1, 2016:

  1.  Once a student has been enrolled in a class, their enrollment will carry over to the next month automatically.
  2. In order to drop enrollment, the front desk must be notified in writing on or before the 27th of the current month to drop the student for the following month.
  3. All accounts will be auto-billed tuition to the credit card on file on the 1st of the month. If you wish to pay with cash or check, you must do so prior to the 1st of the month.
  4. Make-up classes must be done within 2 weeks of the missed class. Only excused classes (absence must be called in prior to the start of class) qualify for a Make-up.
  5. Drop-In rates are $15/class for members and $20/class for non-members. Annual Registration fees apply.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS: All classes must be registered for at least 24 hours prior to attending. New customers

Existing customers

  4. Login to your parent portal account
  5. Click on the Enroll button at the top.
  6. Under “Program Type”, click on Tumbling Classes
  7. Select desired class and follow prompts.
  8. If desired form of payment is different than credit card on file, please notify the office after registering.


  • Enrollment will automatically carry over to the following month.
  • To drop a class, notify the office in writing on or before the 27th of the current month to drop for the following month.


  • Tuition is $60/month for Non-members and $40/month for members based on 4 weeks of classes. Tuition is always adjusted based on the number of classes per month or when there is a recognized gym closure.
  • Forms of payment include Auto-pay through the online portal or cash/check/credit card at the front desk.
  • Auto-pay is run on the 1st of each month for the that month’s tuition.
  • Auto-pays that are declined must be resolved by the next day and may include a $25.00 late fee assessed to the account.
  • Cash/check/credit card payments at the front desk must be received by the 26st of the current month to pay for the following month’s tuition.
  • Accounts that are not current by the 1st day of class may result in the student being dropped from the class.
  • Cancellation of Auto-pay must be done by the 27th of the current month by notifying the office in writing.
  • There are no refunds for tuition.
  • New students entering the program after the 1st class will have their tuition prorated.
  • The annual registration fee is $62 for students enrolling May – April.  Students enrolling in Jan – April pay $25 and April classes only pay $10.
  • There are no sibling discounts for tumbling classes.

DROP-IN CLASSES: Drop in rates are $15/class for members and $20/class for non-members and are based on availability.  Annual registration fees apply. MAKE-UP POLICY:  Students must be currently enrolled in class. They will have two weeks from the missed class to schedule a make-up in the same level class. 24 hour advanced reservations required for the make-up class. In order to be eligible for a make-up class, the front desk must be notified prior to the original class start time of the absence. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, CREDITS OR PRO-RATIONS FOR MISSED CLASSES! LATE POLICY:  For health and safety reasons, your child will not be admitted to class if he or she is more than 15 minutes late. SICKNESS POLICY: In order to be excused and eligible for a make-up class, the parent must call the child in sick prior to the class start time. MEMBER DISCOUNTS: The student is considered a member if he/she is a current Desert Storm All Star/Prep/Special Needs cheerleader or is with a school that is currently in contract training at Desert Storm. HOLIDAYS:  The following holidays are observed and tuition is adjusted accordingly. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Trial Class:  This is a no-obligation class for a new student for the fee of $15. 24 hour advanced reservations required as well as an account created through the parent portal. PROPER ATTIRE:  All students with long hair must keep it securely pulled back.  Acceptable attire include sports bras, tanks, form fitting tee shirts, “spankie shorts” or gym shorts. Jewelry is not permitted. PROPER BEHAVIOR:Respectful and safe behavior is expected at all times. Unacceptable behavior such as; disrespect for others, pushing, hitting, line cutting, and bad language will not be permitted and the child will receive a warning, 2nd warning will result in loss of turn, 3rd warning will result in being asked to leave class and meeting with the a parent.  Students who are continually disruptive will be asked to find other instruction. SAFETY:  Instructors shall go over gym safety during instruction.  There are safety posters throughout the gym to assist students in remembering the rules. LOST AND FOUND:  All items that are found in the gym will be placed in our lost and found bin and held for 24 hours to 1 week. After this period the items are donated to charity. Desert Storm IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS! Please remember for liability reasons parent and siblings are not allowed in the gym. Viewing is permitted in designated areas only. Please keep all non-participating siblings with a parent or guardian at all times, it is important to us that you and your child have a safe, fun and rewarding experience at our facility.
